Our Story...

For many years I taught only 1-1 piano lessons. Students could have the undivided attention of the teacher for 30 minutes. Amazing, right?

In fact, what I noticed was that students relied on the teacher watching over their shoulder the entire time, correcting their every move. Not only this, but more often than not, we would run out of time and struggle to get through repertoire.

This is often how the traditional lesson model works - however it created some problems. Not only were students relying on my 'spoon feeding' approach, but at home, they felt lost. They didn't want to practise, parents were at a loss and lessons would cease. We knew something had to change.

We wanted students to feel confident, to be independent learners and we wanted parents to be relieved of nagging them about practising. We dreamt of creating a way we could actually relieve parents of the practice pressure, and still allow kids to progress.

Impossible right? No. And our studio is the proof.

The Accelerated Piano Programme

less pressure on practising

Students make progress even with no practice, and in lessons learn all the music with the teacher - avoiding confusion at home if and when they do practice.

reading music made easy

With our unique method of teaching notation, students learn a firm foundation of reading skills that enables fast progress.

play chords like a pro

In this programme, students learn to play chords, meaning they can begin to learn their favourite pop songs/musicals without even reading music!

goal orientated

By setting goals with the teacher in a free trial PianoLesson, we will be able to begin working towards them from the very first lesson.

The Accelerated Piano Programme is a weekly 60 minute lesson where students meet with the teacher, in small groups.

"Groups??" I hear you say. "I would prefer a 1-1 lesson where my child can work at their own pace and the teacher can teach them how to play."

And that is exactly what we offer. By using headphones on our full-length digital weighted pianos, students have their own unique educational experience, where they can also work independently until they require assistance.

This hour-long lesson offers students time to make progress, learn new material, and to fix any issues.

It actually FIXED the practice problem. Why? Students still made progress with no practice during the week, but a bonus was that if they DID practise... it felt easy and fun!

All the hard work was done with the teacher in the lesson. The dream right?!

WHAT OUR STUDENTS SAY

"I like the people I do lessons with. The teacher always throws in some fun games that fit my level (nice challenge!). The work is sometimes a challenge but when she comes to see me she makes it a lot easier."

Anya

"I like it because it’s really fun. I like it because I’m with other children not just me on my own and playing with other children my age."

Saxon

"Piano lessons are something I look forward to each week. They are always fun and the teacher always makes sure we mix things up each week."

Student success support

No student in our studio ever needs to feel stuck at home. We offer support by phone/email to ask questions and get help.

progress checklist

Track your progress using our Cadenza Tuition Progress Checklist, where together with the teacher we can identify specific goals of areas to improve.

building community

Learning an instrument like piano can seem solitary, but our students have shared how enjoyable it is to see other learners each week - despite not learning 'together' in the traditional group sense.

flexible scheduling

We recognise that work patterns/family life can alter our weekly schedule. Therefore, whilst a consistent lesson day and time will be agreed between student & teacher, we offer the ability to move to another class occasionally subject to availability.

Book A Free Trial Piano Lesson

We are confident that if you sign your child up for our Accelerated Piano Programme, they will love it! However, our free Trial Piano Lesson gives your child the opportunity to experience what a typical lesson is like, and share any pieces they'd love to play. We will explore the piano & learn a few short pieces.

We also suggest arranging a quick phone call prior to this Trial Lesson where you can ask any questions you may have. There is no obligation at this point to sign up for lessons after but should you sign up, you can cancel at any time by giving one full month's notice.
