One of the Biggest Reasons Adults Give Up Piano Lessons
Learning the piano is one that takes time and patience, but it can be hugely rewarding!
At times it can seem much harder than learning as a child - but what is one of the main reasons adults stop learning?

They struggle to find time to practise.

As adults we often spin many plates: family, home, work, friends and other commitments. It can be a real struggle to carve out time to practise at home and make it a priority.

I heard this in my own studio time and time again. I felt my adult students' frustrations when they struggled to practise and felt progress was slowed. They would arrive guilty & apologetic.

The thing is, I understood. I'm a life-long musician, have a husband, 3 kids, run my own business, and I also recognised the struggle to prioritise and find time to play.

So students aside... what would fix my problem? Would it be easier if I had a nanny? A house cleaner? A gardener? An assistant? No, probably not. The issue is carving out that time.

What if I had an hour a week - accountable to someone so I didn't just forget or give up, where I could just sit and practise? What if I could have some guidance and advice as well so I know I'm on the right track?
The Accelerated Piano Programme
less pressure on practising
Students make progress even with no practice, and in lessons learn all the music with the teacher - avoiding confusion at home when they do practice.
reading music made easy
With our unique method of teaching notation, students learn a firm foundation of reading skills that enables fast progress.
play chords like a pro
In this programme, students learn to play chords, meaning you can begin to learn your favourite pop songs/musicals without even reading music!
goal orientated
By setting your goals with the teacher in a free Piano Consultation, you will be able to begin working towards them from the very first lesson.
The Accelerated Piano Programme is a weekly 60 minute lesson where like-minded adults meet with the teacher, in small groups.

"Groups??" I hear you say. "I don't have time or the confidence to play in front of someone, I just need to practise and have time on my own!"
And that is exactly what we offer. By using headphones on our full-length digital weighted pianos, students can continue working independently until they require assistance.
This hour long lesson offers students time to make progress, learn new material, and to fix any issues.
It actually FIXED the practice problem. Why? Students still made progress with no practice during the week, but a bonus was that if they DID practise, it felt easy, pleasurable! All the hard work was done with the teacher in the lesson. The dream right?!
WHAT OUR STUDENTS SAY
Mark
The weekly lessons are my respite hour. It’s taken the pressure off practising at home as well, especially with home life being so busy with work and my family.
Gail
I’m really loving the new group format compared to my 1-1 lessons I had in the past - it’s really helped with having time in the lesson right there and then on my own to practise what you have asked me to work on.
Vicky
I started piano lessons after trying to teach myself on and off over many years and always giving up. Becca is a fantastic, upbeat teacher who always motivates me.
Programme Features
Independent
Study Time
Time on your own to work on your music - built into your weekly lesson. The teacher gives guidance, walks away, comes back & gives more feedback. Practice strategies are implemented before students have even left the studio.
interval reading method
Build a strong foundation of reading music with our recommended reading method, which in turn speeds up the learning process.
Student success support
No student in our studio ever needs to feel stuck at home. We offer support by phone/email to ask questions and get help.
progress checklist
Track your progress using our Cadenza Tuition Progress Checklist, where together with the teacher we can identify specific goals of areas to improve.
building community
Learning an instrument like piano can seem solitary, but our students have shared how enjoyable it is to see other learners each week - despite not learning 'together' in the traditional group sense.
flexible scheduling
We recognise that work patterns/family life can alter our weekly schedule. Therefore, whilst a consistent lesson day and time will be agreed between student & teacher, we offer the ability to move to another class occasionally subject to availability.
